| Our Editorial Policy The Sub-Saharan Informer is committed to the best traditions and ideals of free and equitable access to information by the civil society. The Charter of the Sub-Saharan Informer therefore reflects that:
The Sub-Saharan Informer is independent of any political, commercial or sectional obligations or commitments, and will not represent the interests of any one section of the population at the expense of another. It will strive to ensure there is no discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, ethnic group, sexual orientation or any physical attribute.
Reports shall be fair, balanced and accurate, and diversity of opinion shall be encouraged. Errors of fact shall be speedily and prominently corrected.
The privacy of individuals shall be fully respected, except in instances of demonstrable public interest.
Facts and opinions shall be clearly separated and identified. Reports of a sensitive nature will be handled with great care to ensure that the rights of free speech and a free Press do not diminish any other basic human rights, nor directly incite feelings of contempt, hatred or aggression
Great care will be taken to ensure that reports on events which might be deemed by a reasonable person to be of a lewd or salacious nature are sensitively handled and are only used if they can be shown to be in the public interest. The same applies to reports, which might be deemed to encourage crime or violence. Full cognizance will be taken of the fact that media products are used by children.
In addition to co-operating fully with independent self-regulatory bodies, THE SUB-SAHARAN INFORMER THE SUB-SAHARAN INFORMER will take all-reasonable precautions to ensure that the advertisements they accept conform to the best standards adopted by the official organizations of the advertising industry in Africa.
THE SUB-SAHARAN INFORMER will not accept any advertisement of a lewd or salacious nature, nor one deemed likely to corrupt minors or encourage crime or violence.
THE SUB-SAHARAN INFORMER believes strongly in the principles of good corporate governance and, therefore, undertakes to be as transparent as commercial prudence allows. THE SUB-SAHARAN INFORMER will be an equal opportunity employer.
