60,000 to be circumcised In Uganda

KAMPALA, Uganda - Arrangements have been finalized by Uganda government to circumcise the majority of it's serving soldiers. According to Uganda armed forces medical officer, Steve Mugasha, 60,000 soldiers are to be circumcised in a period of three years. Mugasha said,' We are aware that circumcision reduces on probability of getting infected with HIV-AIDS and that is the reason why we will circumcise most of our men.' read more ...

Government to stop monetized politics

KAMPALA, Uganda - government of Uganda is to introduce legislation which will stop monetization of politics in the country. The prime minister of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi told executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ghana’s ruling party that the laws will also limit government expenditure on elections.
 

African leaders fail to elect new AU Chairperson
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — African leaders who gathered for the annual African Union summit failed to reach to a consensus on a candidate for the post of Chairperson of the commission.
An insider from the summit disclosed that the current Chairperson Jean Ping from Gabon, who was running for a second term as chairman, did not reach the required two-thirds majority to win another term.

Ping's main challenger, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, a former South African Foreign Minister dropped out of the race after losing three rounds.
