CRBC and SURE-GITTO win road projects

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia- The Ethiopian Road Authority has awarded Mille Chifra -Allewuha, 164.5 Km, Road upgrading project in North East part of Ethiopia to China Road and Bridge Corporation of China (CRBC) and SURE-GITTO Joint venture.
The project which is a link road between Addis Ababa and Djibouti is expected to commence in the coming November and to be finalized within three years time.

The Mille, Chifra -Allewuha Roads located in North _Eastern part of Ethiopia of which 102 Km is located in Afar Regional states and about 63km found in Amhara regional state.
CRBC won the project that covers a length of 85 Km with a cost of ETB 373 million and SURE-GITTO Joint venture took the second part which accounts 79.5 km with a cost of nearly five hundred million birr.
Both projects were tendered under international competitive bidding process and the roads are to be constructed totally using the fund made available by the government of Ethiopia.

The supervision consultant, that also did the design, a joint of LEA International LTD, Canda and LEA Associates South Asia PVT.LTD, India in association with United Consulting Engineering PLC., Ethiopia has signed the contract for this project with an amount of ETB almost 18 million birr.
Getto, an Italian based Construction Company, which constructed several tunnels in Sudan and Nigeria, has entered into Ethiopian road a construction business as joint venture with SURE construction before six months.

Gabriel Diano, General Manager of GITTO construction plc, said that the company has a fifty years experience in different construction sectors specializing in tunnel building, now the company focused on Ethiopia to build roads as the county is undertaking massive road construction in all the parts of the nation.
