to be crowned this Sunday

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – Postponed from its original due
date, Miss Habesha Beauty pageant is to be staged this coming
Sunday afternoon at the Imperial Hotel.
One of the organizers of the event Habeniyob Sisay told SSI this
week that the show was postponed for one month from its original
due date but the program has excelled in its traditionalism.
“The program is fully Ethiopianised. It has Ethiopian music,
costumes, and food and beverages selection, and traditional show
will make the event better than it was originally planned.”
Habeniyob said. According to this organizer the show will serve
as a fund raiser for cardiac patients’ hospital that is
under construction.
Among the factors that led to the postponement of the event one
is the organizer’s desire to get it beefed up and more relaxed.
“We do not want to rush the show. We wanted to take our
time and make it a really good one”, Habeniyob explains.
25 finalists will appear this Sunday from a registered contestants
of 142. “Similar contests such as Miss Millennium and Miss
Africa have taken our share of contestants and only half of those
who have registered showed up at our doorsteps to return the registration
form”, he said.
The winner of this competition is going to be a representative
of Ethiopian women and we are working with different organizations.
We are certain that the winner will work on the helping heart
patients. The organizers however did not list the amount of money
the winner will be granted. But he added that among the invited
guests, some are heads of NGOs and they expect that they will
also choose from the top three winners’ goodwill ambassadors.
