President Rayaale meets with delegates from Germany, Russia & Saudi Arabia -Says Somaliland open for business and investment By Moha Dahir Farah Jire
HARGEISA, Somaliland- Somaliland this week played host to business delegations from Germany, Russia and Saudi Arabia seeking investment opportunities in Somaliland.
Prominent among the visiting delegation was the Alama group from Saudi Arabia led by Mr. Fais, Vice president of the Alama Group who were warmly welcomed at the Egal international airport by members of the Somaliland cabinet of ministers led by foreign affairs minister of Mr. Abdilahi M. Duale.
Upon their visit to Somaliland the delegation held talks with the president of Somaliland, Dahir Rayaale Kahin and Vice president of Mr. Ahmed Yousuf Yasin where they were briefed on the history of Somaliland as well as investment opportunities available to the delegation. In this regard the delegation was urged to look into investment opportunities towards exploiting Somaliland’s rich natural resources which are open to international investors. Among the perks available to foreign investors in Somaliland is easy access to eh the Port of Berbera and low taxes fro investments.
“Somaliland is still full of its natural recourses but we are eager to share our resources with every success business and reliable governments in the horn, We envision that Somaliland will one day become a viable investment destination to all our African friends and brothers because we continue to peace and stability one wonders what could have been achieved had we been granted international recognition” said the President.
For his part Vice president Said Adani Moge told SSI in addition to consolations on investment opportunities available to the foreign investors a tour of the Berbera Port facilities was also accorded to the visiting delegation by Mr. Adan David, a senior official of the Port of berbera
Mr.Mohamed Abdilahi, mayor of Sahil Region where the Port of Berbera is located along with Mr. Ali Mohamed Waranade, minister of civil aviation also briefed the delegation on the various facilities available at the Port of Berbera and expansion projects that were underway at the port.
Mr. Fais in an exclusive interview with SSI said he was impressed with the progress made in the development of somaliland and said that he would return to Somaliland very soon with staff of Alama Group and other senior businessmen follow up on the discussions he had made with various government officials in Somaliland.
In other news Mr. Mohamed Saleban Weyne, the Minster of industries give special thanks to the first secretary of Somaliland to Malaysia Mr. Abdirisak Mohamed Mohamoud for his efforts he made in bringing in these investors to Somaliland and noted that the efforts made by Mr. Abdirisak should be emulated by others to further garner Somaliland’s development and reconstruction.
